Messiah Lutheran Church in Spokane seeks personal care kit donations for Lutheran World Relief
The congregation at Messiah Lutheran Church is tackling another project this summer to help those in need. It is seeking donations for personal care kits that will be sent to Lutheran World Relief.
The congregation hopes to send at least one shipment containing about 40 kits, said Donna Peterson, church publicist. Each kit would include a lightweight bath towel, two bath-size bars of soap, adult-size toothbrush in its original packaging, sturdy comb and nail clippers.
Church members will get together after the service Sept. 10 to prepare the kits for mailing and invite anyone who would like to help to join the effort. The service at 10 a.m. will be followed by fellowship with snacks and coffee.
Lutheran World Relief, which tracks donations, will inform Messiah about where its donation will land and whom it will benefit.
Last year the congregation donated to the blood bank. The congregation has about 75 members.
