Women’s basketball: Washington State joins talented field at Gulf Coast Showcase

Washington State announced that it will open play at the Gulf Coast Showcase in Estero, Florida, on Nov. 24 against South Florida.

The tournament’s eight-team field includes defending national champion South Carolina.

WSU’s side of the bracket also features Notre Dame and East Tennessee State. The title game is set for Nov. 26.

The Cougars open their regular season on Nov. 10 at UC Davis in a rematch of last season’s WNIT third-round game that WSU won 71-62.

  • Idaho announced a nonconference slate that includes a home game with Washington and a road game against Ohio State, which advanced to the Sweet 16 last season. Idaho will face four NCAA Tournament teams from 2017, including its marquee home game against Washington on Dec. 1. The 10-game nonconference schedule begins Nov. 10 on the road at Colorado State, last year’s Mountain West Conference regular-season champions. The Vandals will travel to Columbus, Ohio, on Nov. 15 for their first meeting between the schools.
