Boys basketball roundup: Lakeland beats West Valley behind Dylan Knight’s 16 points

Lakeland 77, West Valley 63: Dylan Knight scored 16 points and the visiting Hawks (2-0) defeated the Eagles (1-1) 77-63 in a nonleague game on Wednesday. The Hawks’ Kaiden Davis and Dylan Vahey scored 15, while Collin Sather led the Eagles with 19 points.

Newport 63, Priest River 39: Tug Smith had 11 points with seven rebounds, seven steals and five assists and the Grizzlies (1-0) beat the visiting Spartans (0-5) in nonleague play. Koa Pancho added 13 points, five assists and three steals for the Grizzlies. Caden Brennan had 12 points for the Spartans.

Odessa 59, Kettle Falls 48: Ryan Moffet scored 35 points and the Tigers (1-0) defeated the visiting Bulldogs (0-1) in nonleague action. Camden Weber scored five points, grabbed seven rebounds and had nine steals for Odessa. Kettle Falls was led by Matt Thompson’s 12 points.
