Girls basketball roundup: Jillian Groves boosts Shadle Park over Ferris

Jillian Groves notched 21 points and host Shadle Park drained 10 3-pointers in a 59-50 Greater Spokane League win over Ferris on Thursday.

Emilie Tangeman scored 14 points and Makenna Grier added 12 for the Highlanders (2-2, 1-0 GSL), who broke open the game with a 16-2 third-quarter run.

Mayson Younger led the Saxons (0-3, 0-1) with 15 points.

Nonleague

Rogers 46, Lakeland 34: Shaelli Morrison tallied a game-high 16 points as the Pirates stopped the visiting Hawks.

Jenna Smith tacked on 10 points for Rogers (1-3), who limited Lakeland (1-4) to 12 second-half points.

Sandpoint 70, St. Maries 39: Grace Kirscher scored 22 points, Ciera Bailey added 16 and the Bulldogs routed the visiting Lumberjacks.

Maddie Morgan chipped in 12 points for Sandpoint, which took a commanding 40-23 halftime lead.

Kaylee Auer notched 14 points to lead St. Maries.
