Girls basketball roundup: Genesis Wilkinson and Destiny Hillyard keep East Valley undefeated, beat Cheney

Great Northern League

East Valley 43, Cheney 40: Destiny Hillyard and Genesis Wilkinson each scored nine points and the Knights (6-0, 3-0) defeated the visiting Blackhawks (2-3, 1-1).

West Valley 54, Pullman 45: Hailey Marlow scored 24 points and the Eagles (2-4) defeated the Greyhounds (1-6). Kelsey Nestergard led the way for the Greyhounds with 14 points.

Northeast 1A

Colville 49, Riverside 47: Rylee Merritt scored 13 points and the Indians (2-3, 0-2) defeated the visiting Rams (2-4, 0-2). Colville was down by seven points at the half but was able to overcome the deficit with a strong second half. Kaitly Petrey had 12 points and 10 rebounds. Breezy Clark recorded five steals in addition to her nine points.

Newport 51, Chewelah 50: Brooke Marsengill’s two free throws gave the visiting Grizzlies (3-1, 2-1) a three-point lead with ten seconds left and they beat the Cougars (2-3, 0-3). Alika Robinson led the Grizzlies with 12 points and Krislyn Koler scored a game-high 21 points for the Cougars.

Medical Lake 77, Deer Park 20: Makayla Geiger scored 19 points and the visiting Cardinals (6-0, 3-0) beat the Stags (2-3, 1-2). Jayda Noble added 17 points for the Cardinals.

Northeast 2B

St. George’s 43, Northwest Christian 41: Mia Smith scored 14 and the visiting Dragons (4-1) beat the Crusaders (3-1). Natalie Smith paced the Crusaders with 12 points.

Davenport 55, Springdale 14: Lainy Jacobson scored 16 points and the Gorillas (4-1, 4-0) coasted past the visiting Chargers (0-5, 0-4). Sydney Abbott and Macie Hopkins had six steals each for the Gorillas. Nichole Beckman led the Chargers with nine points.

Kettle Falls 42, Wilbur-Creston 32: Taylor Dunlap scored 11 points and the Bulldogs (2-4, 1-3) beat the visiting Wildcats (1-4, 1-3). Zarah Johnson added 10 points for the Bulldogs.

Liberty 58, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 50: Maisie Burnham scored 26 points and the visiting Lancers (1-1) defeated the Broncos (3-2). Peyton Curtis scored 20 and Lacey Miller scored 10 for the Broncos.

Northeast 1B

Selkirk 55, Republic 24: Gabi Rick scored 16 points and the visiting Rangers (5-1, 3-0) defeated the Tigers (0-6, 0-4). Kailee Rittel led the Tigers with 13 points.

Curlew 53, Northport 41: Korin Baker scored 29 points and the Cougars (3-3, 2-2) defeated the Tigers (2-5, 1-3). Hailey Young led the way for the Tigers, scoring 10 points.

Inchelium 43, Cusick 39: Meika Heath scored 26 points and the visiting Hornets (5-0, 4-0) defeated the Panthers (1-3, 1-2). Heath surpassed 1,000 career points for Inchelium. Nicole Stensgar led the Panthers with 15 points.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 71, Columbia 8: Tiffany Boutain scored a game-high 20 points and the visiting Warriors (3-0, 2-0) beat the Lions (0-6, 0-4). Madysen McClain led the Lions with six points.

Wellpinit 68, Valley Christian 59: Meriah Sherwood scored 22 points and the Redskins (4-0, 2-0) defeated the Panthers (4-3, 2-1). Sherwood was 6 of 10 from beyond the arc. For Panthers, Kendra Pope scored 22 points and hauled in 32 rebounds while Veranica Alexeyenko scored 12 and had 10 boards.

Sourtheast 1B

Colton 62, Garfield-Palouse 34: Dakota Patchen scored 16 points and the Wildcats (6-0, 3-0) defeated the visiting Vikings (4-1, 2-1).

Oakesdale 53, St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse 50: Logan Reed scored 18 points and the visiting Nighthawks (4-1, 0-1) defeated the Eagles (1-2, 0-1).

Inland Empire 5A

Lewiston 64, Coeur d’Alene 30: Cameron Cady scored 16 points and the Bengals (9-1) defeated the Vikings (2-4). Demi Randall and Morgan Genzer each scored 10 for the Bengals while Rey Louden led the Vikings with nine points.

Nonleague

Lewis and Clark 45, Kaylee Bishop scored 12 points and the Tigers (4-4) beat the Timberwolves (5-2) 45-32 on Friday in a nonleague matchup. Brooklyn Rewers and Keara Simpson each scored 10 points for Timberwolves.

Timberlake 60, Flathead (MT) 34: Lilly Kelley scored 16 points and the Tigers (5-1) defeated the visiting Braves.
