Winter break camps in Spokane Valley offer swimming, ice skating, games and more

The Spokane Valley Parks and Recreation Department is offering a kids camp during the winter school break.

Cool Camp! is two sessions of activities for children ages 6 to 11. Hip, Hip Holiday on Wednesday through Friday includes a field trip to the Spokane Valley YMCA indoor pool for a swim. Winter Wonderland will be Dec. 27-29 and will include ice skating at Eagles Ice-A-rena.

Both sessions will offer games and activities from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Extended child care will be available from 7:15 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.

Families must pack lunch and snacks for the kids and ensure they are dressed appropriately for indoor and outdoor activities.

The cost is $95 for the first session and $110 for the second. Signup is available online at www.spokanevalley.org/recreation by selecting the “Online Program Registration” or by calling (509) 720-5200.

Somebody Needs Me 12/4-17/17

A family of four struggling to make ends meet due to illness lost a great deal of furniture in a disaster. A toddler bed with safety rail, kids dresser, dresser with mirror, bookcase, and educational toys and items such as puzzles, snow gear size 2-3T, and shoes size 2T for a two year old is needed. A low-income family of three with a single mother recently became homeless after a house fire. The children are in need of clothing and winter weather gear such as pajamas, long-sleeved warm shirts and pants for boys sized 6 & 2 and girls size 5. Socks and boots are also needed for boys sized 13 & 6 and girls size 10. Contact Zelia Elam at PCAP at 509-981-6519.

A single mom with low income is getting back on her feet and is in need of household and baby items for a girl age 18-24 months. Needed items include a baby gate, toys, light weight stroller, umbrella, baby dishes, 18-24 month clothes, size 5 boots for the baby, and a vacuum. Contact Holly Martin at PCAP at 509-797-2556.
