Boys basketball: Gonzaga Prep improves to 10-0 after busy road trip

The Gonzaga Prep Bullpups completed a perfect December on Saturday.

Anton Watson scored 24 points to help the Bullpups (10-0) win their third game on the road in as many days with a 53-44 nonleague boys basketball victory over host Davis in Yakima.

G-Prep has played all 10 games in three weeks, getting a late start to its basketball season because of its extended football season.

Jamaari Jones added nine points for the Bullpups. G-Prep committed only nine fouls in the game, sending the Pirates to the free-throw line for one shot.

Collin Kelley led the Pirates with 19 points and Alexzander Delgado scored 11.

G-Prep will return to Greater Spokane League play on Jan. 2 against University.

Central Valley 57, Marysville Pilchuck 54: Zachary Stocker scored 23 points and the Bears (4-5) defeated the Tomahawks (7-2) in their final game of the Curtis Winter Classic Tournament in University Place, Washington.

Stocker nailed four 3-pointers, all in the first quarter, to help put the Bears up by eight by halftime. The Tomahawks outscored the Bears 21-7 in the third quarter, including RaeQuan Battle scoring nine of his 24 points and Josiah Gould scoring eight of his 15.

The Bears came back in the fourth quarter with some clutch shooting, including Grant Hannan hitting three of his final four free throws.

CV finished 2-1 at the eight-team tournament to take fourth place. Host Curtis, which entered the tournament 6-0, lost all three games and placed last.

Post Falls 80, Chino Hills (California) 59: Jake Pfennings scored 33 points, including six 3-pointers, and the Trojans (4-3) defeated the Huskies (4-5) in the Jerry Tarkanian Classic in Las Vegas. Tanner McCliment-Call scored 24 points, including three 3-pointers, for Post Falls, which finished 2-2 at the tournament. Onyeka Okongwu scored 23 points for the Huskies.

Wellpinit 76, Cusick 41: Butch Flett finished with 20 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists to lead the Redskins (4-3) over the Panthers (6-2) in the championship game of the Wellpinit Holiday Tournament.

Tyrone Dorris added 20 points and 11 rebounds for the Redskins, and AJ Bighead added 13 points.
