GSL boys: Ferris tops Rogers to earn No. 2 4A seed
Shamrock Campbell scored 15 points, Michael Ervin added 13 and Ferris (16-4, 14-4) downed visiting Rogers (2-18, 2-16) 53-34 on Saturday in Greater Spokane League play.
Ferris earned the second seed in the 4A regional and will get to host an opening round game against Chiawana on Wednesday.
The Saxons used a 20-5 run in the third quarter to take command, then pulled away with a 14-8 run in the fourth.
Maks Babich led Rogers with 16 points. The Pirates play at Southridge on Tuesday in the 3A regionals.
Central Valley 44, Shadle Park 42: Ryan Rehkow scored 13 points and Central Valley (15-5, 13-5) knocked off visiting Shadle Park (16-4, 14-4).
Despite the win, CV stayed one game behind Ferris for seeding in the 4A regional and will play at Walla Walla on Wednesday.
The Bears led 39-25 entering the fourth quarter and withstood the Highlanders’ late comeback attempt.
Tanner Groves led Shadle with 18 points and Andreas Brown added 11. The Highlanders went 11 of 15 at the line, while CV was just 1 of 5. Shadle Park plays the North Central-Kennewick winner in the 3A regionals on Saturday.
Gonzaga Prep 64, Mt. Spokane 56: Anton Watson continued his impressive season with 18 points and the visiting GSL champ Bullpups (19-1, 17-1) beat the Wildcats (8-12, 6-12).
Sheadon Byrd scored 14 points, Sam Lockett had 11 points and Kea Vargas added 10 for G-Prep, ranked second in state 4A in the latest WIAA RPI ratings. No. 1 seed G-Prep hosts Hanford in the 4A regionals on Wednesday.
Mt. Spokane came out strong in the second half, outscoring the Bullpups 21-12 in the third quarter but they weren’t able to sustain the surge in the fourth and fell short of the comeback.
Caleb Countryman led Mt. Spokane with 15 points while Adam Boals added 13 and Phalon Maddox 11. The Wildcats host the Rogers-Southridge winner in the 3A regionals on Thursday.
Lewis and Clark 77, University 48: Naje Smith scored 21 points and the visiting Tigers (12-8, 11-7) defeated the Titans (9-11, 9-9).
Smith made four 3-pointers on the night. Cameron Underwood added 13 points for the Tigers and Diedrick Pakootas scored 12 points.
LC got out to a 22-10 lead after the first quarter and weren’t threatened.
U-Hi was led by Cam Cavanaugh with 12 points and Tanner Christensen added 10.
Lewis and Clark finished in fifth place while University was sixth. The teams play again on Tuesday in the play-in game to the 4A regionals.
Mead 59, North Central 50: Mason Tullis scored 18 points, Tyson Rogalette added 11 and the visiting Panthers (3-17, 1-17) knocked off the Indians (3-17, 3-15).
Mead broke open a close game with a 17-6 fourth quarter to secure its first lead win of the season in its last game.
Isaiah Lockett scored 12 points and Leon Sayers added 10 to lead North Central. The Indians play at Kennewick on Thursday in the 3A regionals.
