Area girls: Mead advances past University in 4A subregional matchup

Amanda Chan and Aaliyah Pauling scored 11 points apiece and Mead (14-7) defeated visiting University (11-10) 54-41 in Tuesday night’s 4A subregional play-in game.

U-Hi led 36-34 at the end of the third quarter after an 18-8 run but Mead started off the fourth with an 11-0 run and pulled away down the stretch.

Gracee Dwyer and Ellie Boni led University with nine points apiece.

Mead advances to play at Chiawana in the first round of regionals on Wednesday.

3A subregional

Kennewick 66, Shadle Park 44: Alicia Oatis scored 19 points with 12 rebounds and the Lions (6-14) topped the visiting Highlanders (0-20).

Kennewick led 35-16 at intermission. The Lions advance to play North Central on Thursday.

Emilie Tangeman scored 14 points, Makenna Grier had 12 and Jenny Eberling added 10 for Shadle Park.

District 7 1A

Chewelah 53, Freeman 34: Krislyn Koler scored 16 points and the Cougars (15-5) eliminated the visiting Scotties (6-15).

Maggie Cobb and Mara Mitchell added 10 points apiece for Chewelah, which led 26-10 at intermission. The Cougars advance to play second-seeded Lakeside on Friday.

Isabelle Miller led the Scotties with 10 points.

Deer Park 48, Colville 33: Hava Fairbanks and Elli Pearce scored 10 points apiece and the Stags (10-11) defeated the visiting Indians (6-15).

Deer Park advances to play top-seeded Medical Lake on Friday while Colville has been eliminated.

The Stags shot 17 of 23 from the line. Destanne Sunchild added six points with 10 rebounds.

Hayden Hartman topped the Indians with eight points.

District 7 2B at West Valley High

Reardan 32, Springdale 22: Maiya Martinez scored 14 points with nine rebounds and the Indians (7-13) topped the visiting Chargers (1-20) in a District 7 2B playoff game .

Lizzy Williams chipped in 10 rebounds and Faina Frolov grabbed four steals for Reardan, which advances to play top seed St. George’s on Thursday.

Tamieka Valentine scored seven points for Springdale, which plays a loser-out game on Saturday.

Wilbur-Creston 46, Asotin 24 : Karlee Maioho tallied 17 points with six steals and the Wildcats (12-9) defeated the visiting Panthers (7-13) in a District 7 2B playoff game.

Wilbur-Creston pulled away with an 18-4 fourth quarter. Jessi Reed added 14 points for W-C, which advances to play Colfax on Thursday.

Kylan Hernandez paced Asotin with 10 points. The Panthers await their opponent for a loser-out on Saturday.

Tekoa-Rosalia 57, Kettle Falls 46: Hannah Beach scored 22 points and the visiting Timberwolves (6-14) beat the Bulldogs (4-17).

Tekoa-Rosalia advances to face top-seeded Liberty on Thursday while Kettle Falls plays in the consolation round on Saturday.

The T-wolves jumped out to a 14-6 lead after the first quarter and kept that advantage throughout the game.

Zarah Johnson led the Bulldogs with 16 points.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 57, Northwest Christian 37: Tessa Jantz scored 17 points with 10 rebounds and the Broncos (13-8) defeated the visiting Crusaders (10-11).

LRS used an 18-10 second-quarter run to open things up. Lacey Miller scored 10 points with seven rebounds and three assists. Peyton Curtis added 13 points and Kallie Harder chipped in 10 points.

Elie Frey led Northwest Christian with 10 points.

LRS advances to play Davenport on Thursday while Northwest Christian awaits its Saturday opponent.

District 7 1B

Republic 80, Odessa-Harrington 18: Shania Graham record a quadruple-double and the Tigers (20-1) crushed the visiting Titans (3-17).

Graham finished with 30 points, 11 rebounds, 13 assists, and 14 steals. Michelle VanSlyke scored 22 points with 11 assists and 11 steals, while Kiana Koepke brought down 14 rebounds.

Republic, ranked fourth in state 1B in the latest WIAA RPI ratings, advances to play Valley Christian in a semifinal game at Deer Park on Saturday. Odessa-Harrington plays Inchelium in a loser-out on Saturday.

Valley Christian 58, Inchelium 49: Phoebe Trigsted scored 22 points and the Panthers (13-8) defeated the visiting Hornets (10-10) in overtime.

Kaleed Pope added 14 points for Valley Christian, which won with a 13-4 run in the extra session.

Meika Heth led Inchelium with 14 points, Rylee Desautel had 11 and Randi Finley added 10.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 53, Curlew 27: Berlyn Hunt scored 16 points and the sixth-ranked Warriors (18-3) handled the visiting Cougars (9-10).

ACH jumped quickly and led 36-10 at the half. Gabi Isaak scored 15 points and Tiffany Boutain added 14 points.

The Warriors advance to face Selkirk on Saturday, while Curlew plays Wellpinit a loser-out game.

Korin Baker led Curlew with 15 points and MeganJoe Beedle added 10.

Selkirk 54, Wellpinit 43: Jenna Couch scored 15 points with 11 steals to lead the Rangers (18-3), ranked seventh in state, over the visiting Redskins (10-11).

Selkirk led 18-17 at halftime then went on a 22-11 third-quarter run to open things up. Gabi Rick scored 14 points with 12 rebounds while Whitney Dawson scored 11 points with 10 rebounds. Bree Dawson added 12 points for the Rangers.

Wellpinit was led by Christina Carden-Flett with 17 points.
