Stolen classic Chevy recovered thanks to distinctive purple paint

There aren’t too many purple 1961 Chevy pickups with flames painted on the sides, a fact that enabled a Spokane Valley man to get his classic truck back quickly after it was stolen from his garage Sunday morning.

The man reported his truck and some tools stolen from his garage near Bowdish and 19th Avenue shortly after 9 a.m. Sunday. Witnesses reported seeing a green Ford Expedition leaving the area around the time of the theft as well as a woman with multi-colored hair, according to Spokane Valley Police Department news release.

Shortly before 1:30 p.m. Sunday the truck was spotted parked in a driveway near Bowdish and 16th Avenue. Deputies arrived and spoke to the people inside the home, who have “multiple accounts with differing degrees of knowledge regarding the stolen vehicle,” the news release said.

Deputies arrested 35-year-old Dwayne J. Davis, 26-year-old Brittney L. Robles and 39-year-old Noelle L. Kenworthy on suspicion of residential burglary, possession of a stolen motor vehicle and third-degree malicious mischief. Kenworthy has multi-colored hair, said Sheriff’s Office spokesman Deputy Mark Gregory.
