Area girls: Lind-Ritzville/Sprague’s Tessa Jantz shines on Senior Night

As one of two No. 3 seeds in the District 7 2B girls basketball tournament, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague must pull off an upset or two to have a shot at one of the three state berths.

For one night, though, the Broncos – or in this case, a Bronco – reveled in a night to remember.

Tessa Jantz scored 18 points on 7-of-7 shooting from the field and 4-of-4 shooting from the foul line, grabbed 12 rebounds and had two assists to lead the Broncos to a 63-41 win over Tekoa-Rosalia in a regular-season finale Monday.

And she did it all in 21 minutes. It came on Senior Night.

“I know 18 points is solid but not spectacular,” coach Gary Kelly said, “but I limited her playing time and ultimately her points as we are preparing to play again (Tuesday at district). Who knows how many she could have put up.”

Another night to remember

Shania Graham of Republic had a monster game Tuesday in District 7 1B tournament opener.

Graham had a quadruple-double, scoring 30 points, 11 rebounds, 13 assists, and 14 steals. She’s scored 106 points in the last four games.

Republic, which is ranked third in the WIAA RPI, resumes district play Saturday when the Tigers take on Valley Christian at Deeer Park.
