Mt. Spokane girls golf coach Eleen Northcutt passes away

Mt. Spokane High and the greater Spokane community lost a wonderful friend, mentor, coach and teacher last week when Eleen Northcutt passed away after a bout with cancer.

Northcutt had been Mt. Spokane girls golf coach since the school opened in 1998.

She coached Mt. Spokane to the State 3A championship in 2014 and three runner-up finishes from 2011-2013.

Principal Darren Nelson shared a tribute of Northcutt before a moment of silence in her honor prior to a Mt. Spokane girls basketball game last week. Some of Northcutt’s family was in attendance.

“Eleen Northcutt, a beloved teacher and coach, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side after a valiant fight against cancer,” Nelson told the crowd. “The only girls coach our school has ever known, Coach Northcutt helped to bring the first team state championship to Mt. Spokane High School, and her legacy of hard work and loving people will not be forgotten.”
