Area boys: Ryan Ricks scores 22 points and Northwest Christian beats Reardan in 2B

Ryan Ricks scored 22 points and and Northwest Christian (20-1), ranked sixth in state 2B entering play, beat Reardan (3-18) 77-49 on Thursday in a District 7 2B playoff game at West Valley HS.

Northwest Christian built a 46-28 at intermission and cruised in the second half. Asher Cox finished with 18 points, Rolf Veenstra added 15 and Nolan Burns had 11.

Andrew Alsept led Reardan with 13 points while Cade Francis had 12 points with eight boards.

Northwest Christian advances to play Colfax in a district semifinal on Wednesday, while Reardan will play Asotin in a loser-out game on Saturday.

Colfax 58, Springdale 53: Jaydon Soncarty scored 20 points and the Bulldogs (16-5) defeated the Chargers (13-9).

Colfax led 47-33 after three quarters and withstood a 20-11 charge from Springdale in the fourth to hold on. Danny Robinson had 19 points and Jared Kneale added 10.

Chandler Carr tallied 18 points to lead the Chargers while Tyrone Doris added 12. Springdale faces Tekoa-Rosalia on Saturday in loser-out matchup.

Liberty 70, Wilbur-Creston 37: Tyler Haas scored 24 points and and the Lancers (15-5) crushed the Wildcats (7-14).

Liberty held Wilbur-Creston to single digits in three of the four quarters and pulled away with a 20-5 run in the third. Thomas Redder scored 12 points and Chase Burnham added 10 for Liberty.

Liberty advances to play St. George’s in a semifinal on Wednesday.

Tucker Odegaard scored nine points to lead Wilbur-Creston.

Wilbur-Creston plays in a loser-out against Lind-Ritzville/Sprague on Saturday.

St. George’s 67, Davenport 45: Erik Farias scored 34 points with eight rebounds and four steals and the Dragons (14-7) topped the Gorillas (8-13).

Farias made 13 of 20 shots from the field. Mitchell Ward chipped in 10 points for St. George’s.

Peyton Buchanan led Davenport with 13 points. Davenport will play Kettle Falls on Saturday in a loser-out matchup.

District 9 1B

Colton 54, Oakesdale 49: Reece Chadwick scored 14 points to help the Wildcats (13-8) defeat the visiting Nighthawks (8-13).

Grant Kinzer put the game out of reach making 1 of 2 free throws in the last eight seconds. Kinzer finished with nine points. Peter Schulteis added 12 points for the Wildcats.

Colton advances to play second-seeded Waitsburg in a semifinal on Saturday.

Kieron Anderson scored a game-high 19 points for Oakesdale, which awaits its opponent for an elimination game on Monday.
