The second Gonzaga-Saint Mary’s showdown takes place Saturday in Moraga, but the key matchups remain the same from the Zags’ perspective.
It’ll be another battle of the bigs between GU’s Przemek Karnowski and Saint Mary’s counterpart Jock Landale. It was essentially a draw in the first meeting (Karnowski nine points, six boards; Landale 10 points, six rebounds), but Landale was limited to 19 minutes before fouling out.
The other key matchup is the guard line. Saint Mary’s Joe Rahon and Emmett Naar combined to make just 5 of 20 shots and handed out only five assists last month in Spokane, well below their usual production. They’ll be out to make amends in the rematch, presenting a defensive challenge for Nigel Williams-Goss, Josh Perkins and Silas Melson.
