Area girls: West Valley advances past Clarkston in 2A

Hailey Marlow and Grace Phan scored 12 points apiece and visiting West Valley (13-8) topped Clarkston (11-11) 53-47 on Saturday in District 7 2A play.

West Valley advances to play East Valley in the title game on Wednesday, with both teams moving to GNL-CWAC glue crossovers on Feb. 18.

The Eagles used a 12-6 third-quarter run to open up a tight game.

Auna Taylor had 16 points to pace Clarkston, while Riley Denton added 11.

District 7 2B

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 53, Springdale 32: Peyton Curtis scored 18 points and the Broncos (14-9) eliminated the Chargers (1-21) at West Valley HS.

The Broncos started out hot by outscoring the Chargers 25-11 in the first half. Lacey Miller added 14 points for LRS, which faces Asotin in a loser-out on Wednesday.

The Chargers were led by Nichole Beckman with 19 points.

Asotin vs. Tekoa-Rosalia: Kylan Hernandez scored 23 points, Samantha Nichols added 14 and the Panthers (8-13) came back to eliminate the Timberwolves (6-16).

Asotin advances to face Lind-Ritzville/Sprague in another loser-out game on Wednesday.

Hannah Beach paced Tekoa-Rosalia with 22 points.

Wilbur-Creston 41, Kettle Falls 29: Jessi Reed scored 16 points and the Wildcats (13-10) eliminated the Bulldogs (4-18).

Wilbur-Creston led 15-3 after the first quarter and 27-8 at halftime. Karlee Maioho added 14 points for the W-C, which advances to play in a loser-out on Wednesday.

District 7 1B

Republic 64, Valley Christian 37: Shania Graham scored 14 points and the Tigers (21-1) defeated the Panthers (13-9) at Deer Park HS.

Republic advances to the district championship next Saturday against Almira/Coulee-Hartline.

Republic trailed by one after the first quarter but exploded with a 22-6 second-quarter run. Lily Beckwith finished with 13 points and Michelle VanSlyke added 10.

Phoebe Trigsted scored 13 points for Valley Christian, which plays in a loser-out against Curlew on Wednesday.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 57, Selkirk 47: Tiffany Boutain scored 16 points and the Warriors (19-3) beat the Rangers (18-4).

Almira/Coulee-Hartline will move on to the district championship against Republic next Saturday. Selkirk will play on Wednesday against Inchelium in a loser-out game.

Tied after the first, Boutain got going and helped the Warriors outscore the Rangers to take a four-point lead at halftime. Gabi Isaak finished with 15 points and Sarah Bradshaw added 14.

Jenna Couch scored 20 points to lead Selkirk while Whitney Dawson added 10.

Inchelium 61, Odessa-Harrington 26: Meika Heth scored 19 points and the Hornets (10-10) eliminated the Titans (3-18) 61-26 on Saturday in the District 1B playoffs.

Taylor Finley added 16 points for Inchelium.

Maleah Davison scored 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds for the Titans.

Curlew 56, Wellpinit 41: Korin Baker scored 24 points as the Cougars (11-10) eliminated the Redskins (10-11) 56-41 on Satruday in a District 1B loser-out game.

MeganJoe Beedle added 15 points for Curlew.

Jada Orr led the Redskins with 17 points.

District 9 1B

Colton 61, Touchet 40: Dakota Patchen scored 18 points and the Wildcats (19-2) beat the visiting Indians (12-7).

Colton advances to face Pomeroy in district final on Friday, while Touchet meets Waitsburg on Monday in loser-out.

Emily Shultheis added 11 points for Colton, ranked first in state 1B in the latest WIAA RPI ratings.

Katie Skramstad made six 3-pointers on her way to 23 points to lead Touchet.

Idaho 5A Region I

Lake City 41, Borah 35: Bridget Rieken scored 14 points and Nina Carlson added 12 to lead the Timberwolves (19-5) over Borah 41-35 on Saturday in the Idaho 5A Region I play-in game to state at Grangegville HS.

Idaho 1A Division II

Lakeside 60, Logos 41: The Knights (16-2) beat District II second-place Logos (15-8) in the Idaho 1A Division II play-in game to state at Moscow HS.
