Eastern Washington dominates Northern Colorado with strong defense

GREELEY, Colo. – Ty Gibson hit six 3-pointers and scored a career-high 21 points and Eastern Washington drubbed Northern Colorado 70-44 on Saturday in the only regular season Big Sky Conference matchup between the schools.

Jacob Wiley had 21 points and eight rebounds for the Eagles (17-9, 9-4). Eastern Washington shot 48 percent and hit 10 3-pointers, moving its record to 12-3 when shooting at least 45 percent.

The 44 points allowed is a season-best effort for the Eagles, who also held the Bears (8-16, 4-9) to just 28.3 percent shooting and 3 of 21 from long range.

Jordan Davis led Northern Colorado with 15 points and Jonah Radebaugh added 10.

Eastern Washington scored the last seven of the first half for a 28-20 lead. Bogdan Bliznyuk scored back-to-back buckets to open the second, which gave the Eagles a double-digit lead. Cody Benzel pushed it to 47-26 with 11:36 left, and Eastern Washington ran away with it.
