Eastern Washington women top Big Sky co-leader Northern Colorado

Delaney Hodgins scored 22 points and Eastern Washington topped Big Sky co-leader Northern Colorado 67-61 on Saturday in Cheney.

Hodgins went 9 of 15 from the field and 4 of 5 on 3-pointers. Ashli Payne added 16 points with seven rebounds, Tisha Phillips had 14 points and Violet Kapri Morrow added 10.

The Eagles (14-10, 9-4) shot 50 percent (28 of 56) overall and hit 6 of 13 from beyond the arc. They dominated in points in the paint (40-26) and second chance points (16-6).

Eastern led most of the way in a close game throughout. Its largest lead was 12 points toward the end of the first, but UNC (19-5, 11-2) closed the gap and trailed 33-30 at intermission. Eastern used a pair of 17-point quarters after halftime to steal the win.

Eastern Washington is off until traveling to Idaho next Saturday at 2 p.m.
