Mikayla Ferenz scores 27 points and Idaho women knock off first-place North Dakota
Mikayla Ferenz scored 27 points with six rebounds and Idaho (13-11, 8-5) knocked off first-place North Dakota (16-8, 11-2) 74-61 on Satruday in Big Sky play in Moscow.
Ferenz went 11 of 20 from the field with a pair of 3-pointers and added four assists. Taylor Pierce added 17 points while Karlee Wilson scored 16 points with five boards and eight assists. Geraldine McCorkell had a rough shooting day (1 of 9, four points) but grabbed 12 rebounds.
Bailey Strand paced North Dakota with 12 points. The Fighting Hawks entered play tied with Northern Colorado atop the conference.
Idaho raced out to a 24-15 lead after the first quarter and were never really threatened. The Vandals lead by as many as 24 in the fourth quarter.
Idaho hosts Eastern Washington on Saturday at 2 p.m.
