Yamane hits grand slam in Whitworth’s 15-4 win over Willamette

WILSONVILLE, Ore. – Jacob Yamane slugged a grand slam to lead Whitworth to a 15-4 victory over Willamette in a nonconference baseball game at Wilsonville High School on Sunday.

Yamane went 3 for 5 with five RBIs. His grand slam was part of a seven-run, seventh inning for the Pirates (2-1).

Daniel Casanova was 3 for 4 with two RBIs and four runs scored. Matthew Nelson had a triple and was 2 for 4 with three RBIS. Joel Condreay added two of Whitworth’s 11 hits against the Bearcats (4-3).

Whitworth never trailed after scoring two runs each in the first, fourth and sixth innings and single runs in the third and fifth to open an 8-3 lead.

Tim Bever picked up the win with 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief, allowing three hits.
