Road open after serious crash on 32nd Avenue in Spokane Valley

A serious injury crash shut down 32nd Avenue between Highway 27 and Clinton in Spokane Valley for several hours Wednesday.

Spokane Valley Fire Department crews were called to the scene for an extrication shortly before 1:30 p.m.. The male driver of a westbound white car crossed the center turn lane and hit an eastbound SUV, said Spokane County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Deputy Mark Gregory.

The female driver of the SUV has non-life threatening injuries and the driver of the white car was in “very bad shape” at the scene and is in critical condition at a local hospital, Gregory said. Investigators believe impairment was a factor, Gregory said.

The crash happened just east of University High School but Gregory said the crash did not involve any students..
