Area girls: Kamiakin knocks off Mt. Spokane in 3A subregional title game

Kamiakin 68, Mt. Spokane 62: Oumou Toure scored a career-high 33 points and the Braves (21-1) beat the visiting Wildcats (17-5) 68-62 on Thursday in the District 8 3A subregional title game.

It’s the third straight subregional title for Kamiakin, which advances to host a glue crossover game on Tuesday.

Aspyn Adams led Mt. Spokane with 25 points on seven 3-pointers. Jaidyn Lyman added 21 points.

Mt. Spokane hosts North Central on Saturday for second place in the subregion, with the winner traveling to a glue crossover game against the No. 6 District 2 team on Tuesday.

North Central 42, Southridge 41: Dakotah Chastain made the game-winning shot with only 6 seconds left to help the visiting Indians (8-14) defeat the Suns (11-11).

Chastain finished with 10 points, while Quincy McDeid led North Central with 15 points. Sunny Ellenwood added nine points and seven rebounds.

District 7 2B

Liberty 57, Northwest Christian 44: Christine Denny scored 28 of her 29 points in the first half and the Lancers (20-2) eliminated the Crusaders (12-12) 57-44 on Thursday in a District 7 2B loser-out game.

Denny also grabbed 11 rebounds while Maisie Burnham added 10 points for Liberty, which plays Colfax on Saturday in the third place game with a trip to regionals on the line.

NWC was led by Natalie Smith with 11 points and Steffanie Kioukas with 10, while Jordan Rabe added eight points and 12 rebounds.

Colfax 49, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 41: The Bulldogs (16-6) eliminated the Broncos (15-10) in a District 7 2B loser-out game.
