17-year-old Coulee City stabbing victim identified

Feb. 20, 2017 Updated Mon., Feb. 20, 2017 at 1:04 p.m.

The victim of Sunday’s stabbing in Coulee City, Washington has been identified as 17-year-old Shane C. Wachter.

Shane was stabbed to death early Sunday morning. The Grant County Sheriff’s Office reported that his twin brother was arrested and is accused of manslaughter. Grant County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a home in 300 block of West Washington Street at around 2:30 a.m. and found the stabbing victim, a sheriff’s news release said.

Shane Wachter was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Kyle Foreman, a deputy and spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office, said there were other people in the home at the time of the killing. He said the investigating officer had interviewed witnesses, and his account will be available Tuesday, when his brother is scheduled for his first court appearance.

An autopsy to determine cause of death and manner of death is also scheduled for Tuesday, Foreman said.

His brother faces charges of manslaughter and assault-domestic violence.
