From staff reports

Andreas Brown scored 17 points with eight rebounds and six assists and visiting Shadle Park held off Eastside Catholic 49-45 on Tuesday in a 3A District 2/5/8 glue crossover in Seattle.

Shadle Park (18-4), which finished tied for second in the Greater Spokane League and ranked 18th in state 3A in the final WIAA RPI ratings, moves on to a regional game this weekend.

Eastside Catholic (15-11) finished tied for second in the Metro 3A-Mountain League and ranked 15th in state 3A.

Shadle Park led 17-4 after the first quarter and entered the fourth quarter with an eight-point lead. Markeith Brown drilled a 3-pointer, then Tanner Groves made a pair at the line to make it 41-28 early in the fourth.

Eastside cut its deficit to three a few minutes later after a bucket and 3-pointer by Malik Putney. Michael Clemens then hit a 3-pointer to trim the Highlanders’ lead to 45-43.

As time was winding down, Eastside’s Brock MacKenzie made a basket to make it 47-45, then Putney fouled Groves and Shadle’s big man made both to restore a four-point lead.

Groves finished with 11 points, hitting 5 of 6 at the line, and Markeith Brown added eight.
