Idaho women fall in conference after loss to Idaho State

Freya Newton scored 21 points and Idaho State (16-10, 10-5) dropped Idaho (14-12, 9-6) 80-69 on Thursday in Pocatello.

Idaho led 18-14 after the first quarter, but Idaho State put up three straight 20-plus point quarters to take over. The Vandals drop to sixth in the Big Sky Conference, one game behind both Idaho State and Eastern Washington.

Newton went 7 of 10 from the field, including all three 3-point attempts, and had four rebounds and four assists. Estefania Ors added 14 points and Lindsay Brown had 13 points with nine boards.

Brooke Reilly paced Idaho with 13 points and seven rebounds, while Mikayla Ferenz added 11 points.

The Vandals face Weber State on the road on Saturday.
