Girls regionals: Carmen Gfeller leads Colfax in upset of No. 1 Dayton

Carmen Gfeller scored 22 points with 12 rebounds and Colfax (20-6) beat top-seeded Dayton (19-4) 57-48 on Saturday in a 2B regional game at Richland HS.

Dayton was ranked No. 1 in state 2B in the final WIAA RPI ratings.

Colfax, the No. 8 seed, advances to the State 2B tournament on Thursday at the Arena.

The Bulldogs hit 22 of 27 from the line. Colfax used an 18-6 run in the third to build a cushion and withstood Dayton’s 24-point fourth.

Abbie Miller scored 10 points for Colfax, while Jenna Phillips had 21 points to lead Dayton.

Oakesdale 69, Evergreen Lutheran 23: Jacey Johnson scored 17 points and the Nighthawks (20-5) routed Evergreen Lutheran (17-7) in a 1B regional game at Cheney HS.

Oakesdale advances to a State 1B tournament on Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Arena.

LaSalle 47, Medical Lake 45: Grace McGree scored 22 points to help LaSalle (12-11) defeat the Cardinals (20-3) 47-45 in the 1A regionals at Cheney HS.

LaSalle advances to state while Medical Lake was eliminated. Jaxyn Farmen led the Cardinals with 27 points.

Wahkiakum 60, Davenport 56: The Mules (22-1) beat the Gorillas (19-5) 60-56 in overtime on Saturday in a 2B regional game at Mark Morris HS in Longview.

Seventh-seeded Davenport will face No. 15 Napavine in the first round of the State 2B tournament on Wednesday.
