GSL girls: CV runs winning streak to 38, handles G-Prep

The Central Valley girls basketball team notched another decisive victory Tuesday.

Coming off the holiday break, the visiting Bears cruised to their 38th straight victory, handling the Gonzaga Prep Bullpups 74-34 in Greater Spokane League action.

The Bears (10-0 overall, 8-0 league) outscored the Bullpups 30-6 in the second quarter to build a 41-14 lead by halftime.

Lexie Hull led CV with 17 points while Mady Simmelink and Lacie Hull added 13 apiece.

Freshman Olivia Mayer led G-Prep (6-4, 6-2) with 16 points.

Mt. Spokane 71, Lewis and Clark 44: The Wildcats (9-1, 7-1) stayed within a game of league-leading CV in the blowout victory over the visiting Tigers (5-5, 5-3). Four players reached double-figure scoring for the Wildcats. Aspyn Adams led with 22 points, Jaidyn Lyman had 20, Miahna Waters added 15 and Averi Adams chipped in 10. Waters also had 10 rebounds. Jacinta Buckley led the Tigers with 14 points and Peyton Howard had 11.

North Central 63, Rogers 43: Sativa Rogers scored a game-high 21 points to lead the Indians (4-6, 3-5) past the visiting Pirates (2-8, 1-7). Sunny Ellenwood had 12 and Elyce Piper added 10 for NC. Atyzha Upton led Rogers with 15 points and Akon Aleu added 13.

University 46, Ferris 36: The visiting Titans (6-4, 5-3) outscored the Saxons (1-9, 1-7) 17-5 in the second quarter to open up the game. Ellie Bone led U-Hi with 14 points and Kinsley Barrington added 12. Brook Goodwin led the Saxons with 14.

Mead 69, Shadle Park 28: The Panthers (6-4, 4-4) used a 25-2 outburst in the third quarter to handle the visiting Highlanders (0-9, 0-8). Mead led 36-23 at the half before adding to its large advantage. Aaliyah Pauling led the Panthers with 19 points, Lindsey Russell had 14 and Alyse Jackson added 10. Willow Risinger led the Highlanders with 12.
