Looking back: Gonzaga, Mark Few have had Portland’s number

The Gonzaga Bulldogs finish up a three-game road trip and look to improve upon an undefeated season with the 164th meeting against the Portland Pilots.

The Bulldogs have won six straight against the Pilots, dating back to an 82-73 loss on Jan. 9, 2014, at Portland. Overall, the Zags have won 19 of the last 20 meetings inside the Chiles Center and are 32-22 in Portland.

The most recent matchup was a 92-67 victory for the Bulldogs during the quarterfinals of the WCC tournament last year in Las Vegas. Eric McClellan scored a season-high 26 points, Domantas Sabonis scored 24, and Silas Melson added another 15 in the victory.

Last year at Portland, the Zags cruised to a 92-66 win on Feb. 11, 2016. Kyle Wiltjer led the team with 21 points.

Head coach Mark Few is 33-2 against the Pilots.

Portland won by four points in the first matchup on January 18, 1959, by a score of 70-66. The game was played in the Spokane Coliseum.

Gonzaga lead the all-time series, 97-66.
