Spokane made it’s first move of the trade deadline on Tuesday, trading 19-year-old forward Tanner Wishnowski to Prince George for a conditional eighth round pick, the Chiefs announced.
“With recent roster moves we’ve made, we were heavy up front and needed to clear some space, especially as our forward group gets healthier,” Chiefs’ General Manager Scott Carter said in a statement. “We’d like to thank Tanner for his service with our organization and wish him the best in Prince George.”
The Chiefs currently have two open roster spots with the trade of Wishnowski and Koby Morrisseau’s season-ending injury.
Wishnowski, an Oakbank, Manitoba, native scored two goals and added six assists in 13 games for Spokane this season. The Chiefs added Wishnowski on Oct. 17 in a trade with Kelowna for prospect Colum McGauley.
The Western Hockey League trade deadline is Tuesday at 2 p.m.
