Area boys: Jett Sobotta helps Clarkston stay undefeated in league with win over Pullman

Jett Sobotta scored 17 points and Great Northern leading Clarkston (11-2, 7-0) dropped visiting Pullman (9-4, 2-3) 60-48 on Friday.

Jake Albright scored 14 points and Travis Hansen added 13 for Clarkston, which stayed undefeated in the league. The Bantams led 18-4 after the first and 28-13 at halftime.

Jacob Wells scored 14 points and Tim Pendry had 13 for Pullman.

East Valley 59, West Valley 54: Jeremiah Hillard had 23 points and the visiting Knights (8-6 3-3) defeated the Eagles (8-6 3-3) in their annual Golden Throne spirit game.

West Valley trailed most of the game but managed to pull ahead near the end. Hillard made a basket with 20 seconds left to put the Knights back on top.

Eli Holocek added 20 points for East Valley, while Collin Sather led West Valley with 18 points and Conner Whitney chipped in with 11.

Northeast A

Newport 63, Lakeside 50: Koa Pancho scored 22 points and the visiting Grizzlies (8-5, 5-2) defeated the Eagles (6-7, 4-3).

Owen Leslie had 16 points and Tug Smith added 11 for Newport, which hit seven 3-pointers overall and used a 19-8 second quarter to move ahead for good. Owen drilled four 3s in the first half.

Micah Holmes led Lakeside with 21 points and Blayne Baerwald added 10. The Grizzlies closed to within six points with four minutes to go but Newport pulled away again.

Medical Lake 76, Colville 47: Nizhole Sherman led all players with 19 points to help the visiting Cardinals (10-3, 6-1) defeat the Indians (3-10, 1-6).

The Cardinals had 19 assists as a team. Xavier Bulter scored 17 points, Joey Jasmer had 15 points with 16 rebounds and Skyler Johnson chipped in 11.

The Indians were led by Alberto Cisneros, Kobe Cunningham and Devin Lembcke, who scored eight points apiece.

Deer Park 47, Riverside 29: Isaac Berglund led the Stags with 13 points and the Stags (5-8, 3-4) scored a win over the visiting Rams (2-12, 0-7).

Deer Park got out to a 13-5 lead after the first quarter and led 27-13 at the break.

Kory Cross finished with 15 points for Riverside.

Freeman 78, Chewelah 35: Ryan Maine led three in double-figures with 20 points and the visiting Scotties (12-1, 7-0) stayed undefeated in league play with a win over the Cougars (5-6, 2-5).

Freeman led 46-15 at halftime led the entire way. Michael Coumont added 17 points and Rhys McVay added 13 points.

Chewelah was led by Elan Krausz with 10 points.

Northeast 2B

Northwest Christian 63, Tekoa-Rosalia 26: Asher Cox scored 14 points to help the Crusaders (10-1, 8-0) over the visiting Timberwolves (3-9, 1-8).

Rolf Veenstra scored 12 points and Ryan Ricks added 11 to join Cox in double figures.

Northwest Christian led 23-0 after the first quarter. The Crusders are undefeated in league play as they look ahead to Reardan on Saturday.

Devin Cripe led Tekoa-Rosalia with eight points.

Liberty 61, Kettle Falls 37: Thomas Redder led the visiting Lancers (9-4, 7-2) with 15 points in a victory over the Bulldogs (3-9, 0-8).

Tyler Haas and Justin Jeske brought in 11 points apiece for Liberty while Matt Thompson led Kettle Falls with 10 points.

Liberty went 26of 32 on free throws, while Kettle Falls went 6 of 8.

Colfax 59, Springdale 51: Carson Cloaninger had 21 points on 7 of 13 shooting to lead the visiting Bulldogs (8-4, 6-2) past the Chargers (7-5, 4-5).

Jaydon Soncarty added 15 points for Colfax, while Chandler Carr led Springdale with 14.

Asotin 63, Davenport 45: Eli Engledow scored all 16 of his points in the first half as the visiting Panthers (5-2, 5-2) defeated the Gorillas (5-7, 4-5).

Thomas Weakland and Chase Klappenbach scored 10 points apiece for Asotin, which used a 20-9 run in the third to take control.

Peyton Buchanan and Chase Van Pevenage scored 10 points apiece for Davenport.

St. George’s 56, Reardan 30: Erik Farias scored 21 points with six rebounds and five steals and the Dragons (7-5, 6-2) beat the visiting Indians (2-9, 1-7).

Zac Steele added 12 points for St. George’s.

Northeast 1B

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 60, Selkirk 31: Mac Isaak had 25 points and Payton Nielsen had 12 points and 14 rebounds as and the Warriors (12-2, 9-0) beat the visiting Rangers (10-3, 7-2) in a battle of 1B league leaders.

After a back and forth first quarter, ACH switched to a full court press in the second to open up a big lead. Jacob Couch led Selkirk with 10.

Wellpinit 85, Curlew 42: Brandon Flett had 29 points, 12 rebounds, and seven steals and the Redskins (11-1, 7-1) dominated the visiting Cougars (4-9, 4-8).

Cedric Bowens added seven points with 10 rebounds and 12 assists for Wellpinit, which had 23 steals on the night.

Justin Hanks scored 24 points to lead Curlew.

Odessa-Harrington 85, Cusick 75: Ryan Moffet scored 31 points and the visiting Titans (6-5, 6-4) beat the Panthers (4-9, 4-5).

Down 66-42 at the end of the third quarter, Dylan Hendershott caught fire with 15 fourth-quarter points to bring the deficit within six points, but free-throws down the stretch helped seal the deal for Odessa-Harrington.

Hendershott finished with 17 points and Cameron Cotter added 17 points for Cusick, while Colton Hansen had 16 and Bryce Nomee 13.

Odessa-Harrington forced 25 Cusick turnovers. John DeWulf added 14 points and Colton Hunt had 12.

Northport 43, Valley Christian 40: Aiden Middlesworth scored 15 points with 12 rebounds and the Mustangs (5-8, 3-6) edged the visiting Panthers (0-14, 0-9).

The Panthers led by two with about 30 seconds left, but D’Andre Twoteeth nailed a 3-pointer to give Northport a one-point lead. After a missed shot by Valley Christian, Trenton Baribault made two free throws to seal the deal.

Adam Bruno led the Panthers with 14 points.

Republic 65, Columbia 49: Joe Koepke scored 25 points and the Tigers (5-8, 3-7) topped the visiting Lions (2-9, 2-6).

Jasper Sunny had 15 points while Nico Rivera scored nine points and had 11 assists for Republic.

Riley McClain led Columbia with 32 points.

Southeast 1B

Colton 74, Oakesdale 50: Peter Schulteis scored 18 points to help the Wildcats (8-4, 6-2) cruise past the visiting Nighthawks (5-7, 3-4).

Grant Kinzer added 17 points for the Wildcats and Kieron Anderson scored 14 for the Nighthawks.

Waitsburg 36, St. John-Endicott 29: The Cardinals (4-2, 4-2) defeated the visiting Eagles (2-9, 1-7).

Inland Empire 5A

Post Falls 39, Lewiston 37: Jake Pfennigs scored 14 points with eight rebounds and the visiting Trojans (9-2, 3-0) edged the Bengals (4-3, 1-2).

Colton Richardson and Riley Way led Lewiston with eight points apiece.

North Star

Genesis Prep 59, Wallace 37: Jonny Hillman scored 23 points and the Jaguars (7-3, 4-0) handled the visiting Miners (6-6, 3-1).

Stephane Manzi had 11 points and Junior Williams added 10 for Genesis Prep.
