No luck needed: Gonzaga goes for 13th straight win over Santa Clara

The Gonzaga Bulldogs hope to remain the nation’s lone unbeaten team on Thursday with a victory in the 87th all-time meeting against the Santa Clara Broncos.

Overall, the Bulldogs lead the head-to-head series 56-30. GU has won 36 of the last 38 meetings with the Broncos, including the last 12.

In the last matchup, the Zags won 84-67 on Jan. 28, 2016, in Spokane. Kyle Wiltjer scored 35 points, connecting on 7 of 10 3-pointers, and Domantas Sabonis added 12 points and 17 rebounds for Gonzaga.

On New Year’s Eve 2015, GU held on for a 79-77 victory at Santa Clara behind 26 points from Josh Perkins.

Head coach Mark Few has had success against SCU, posting a 36-4 record versus the Broncos.

The Bulldogs are below .500 in games played at Santa Clara (19-23), but have won 15 of the last 16 on the road against the Broncos.

SCU won the first meeting 67-62 on February 3, 1959.
