Area roundup: CC Spokane runs away from Blue Mountain

Cameron Gay scored 22 points, Levi Taylor added 21 and CC Spokane routed Blue Mountain 102-68 in Northwest Athletic Conference play on Wednesday at Spokane Falls CC.

The game is the last under the current configuration at SFCC – famed for being featured in the movie Vision Quest – which will undergo a large renovation and remodel project starting in the spring.

Gay went 6 of 8 from beyond the arc, Garrett Hull scored 12 points with nine rebounds. CCS (16-4, 5-2) shot nearly 51 percent from the field, including 18 of 38 (47.4 percent) on 3-point attempts.

David Bravo paced Blue Mountain (4-13, 2-5) with 22 points.

North Idaho 86, Wenatchee Valley 77: Markus Golder led five in double figures with 23 points and the Cardinals (16-3, 4-2) topped the visiting Knights (6-12, 2-4).

Golder went 10 of 14 from the field and NIC shot nearly 43 percent overall. Zaequan Satterthwaite had 14 points with nien rebounds, Sam Dowd had 13 points, Niko Bevins added 12 and Jalen Burkett chipped in with 10.

Justin Martin led Wentachee Valley with 29 points, while Conner Dowdy and Trevor Shurtliff added 15 apiece.

Women’s basketball

Katlyn Ward scored 19 points with 12 rebounds and four assists and CC Spokane had little trouble dispatching Blue Mountain 80-38 at SFCC.

Ward went 6 of 7 from the field and 7 of 8 from the line as the Sasquatch (16-2, 7-0) shot 50 percent (26 of 52), including 9 of 26 from beyond the arc. Bri King added 18 points, hitting 3 of 6 from long distance.

CCS raced out to a 23-12 lead after the first and was up 46-23 at intermission. The Sasquatch limited the Timberwolves to 15 points in the second half.

Miah Slater scored 11 points and Erin Ramesy had 10 to lead Blue Mountain (2-12, 0-7).

North Idaho 75, Wenatchee Valley 70: Whitney Meier scored 17 points and the Cardinals (9-8, 2-4) outlasted the visiting Knights (7-10, 2-4).

Meier went 6 of 11 from the field, including 4 of 6 on 3-point attempts. She added three rebounds and three assists. Giavanna Sorn scored 16 points with five rebounds while Lana Berg added 15 points with four boards.

NIC led 54-45 after three quarters and withstood a 25-21 fourth quarter by the Knights.

Whitney Shapp led Wenatchee Valley with 18 points. Treasure Farmer had 14 and Karly Malcolm added 10.
