Area girls: Post Falls clinches IEL 5A title with win over Coeur d’Alene

Tyler McCliment-Call scored 17 points and Post Falls (16-2, 5-1) routed visiting Coeur d’Alene (7-10, 0-6) 74-34 to clinch the Inland Empire 5A league championship on Thursday.

Melody Kempton added a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Right from the tip the Timberwolves came out firing, outscoring the Vikings 20-8 in the first quarter. Post Falls used a 23-2 third-quarter run to seal it. Bailey Brennan added nine points with nine assists in the 40-point win.

Rey Louden led Coeur d’Alene with 12 points.

Lakeside 53, Wallace 52: Lillian Rhea scored 18 points as the visiting Knights (14-1, 9-0) defeated the Miners (6-9, 3-4) in overtime in North Star league play.

Rhea was joined by Tommia Pakootas with 15 points as the Knights stayed undefeated in league play.

Close the entire way, Lakeside held a four-point lead at halftime. The Knights were up by five after three quarters, but Maryssa Hogamier heated up with eight points in the fourth, and Wallace tied the game at 44-44 at the end of regulation.

In overtime, Lakeside squeezed by, outscoring the Miners 9-8 for the win. Rachael Arthur added eight points for Lakeside.

Hogamier finished with 26 points for Wallace and Sierra Brantz added 10 points.
