A man was arrested early Thursday morning after employees at Valley Hospital witnessed him abuse his 10-month-old daughter.

The baby had been brought to the emergency room by her parents for a head injury, according to to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office. Hospital staff saw her father, 19-year-old Logan S. Rose, violently throw the baby against a gurney and yell at her to “Go to sleep” when she would not stop crying.

Rose reportedly admitted to a deputy that he “may have thrown her down a littler harder than he should have,” according to the Sheriff’s Office news release. He also said he had no idea how the girl sustained her head injury.

The baby was found to have a skull fracture and severe brain bleeding. She is in serious condition in the pediatric ICU.

Major Crimes detectives are investigating due to the seriousness of the baby’s injuries. The baby’s mother was interviewed but not arrested. Child Protective Services was called to evaluate the living conditions of the baby and her 3-year-old brother.
