Area boys: Ryan Maine scores 26 points and Freeman clinches Northeast A title

Ryan Maine scored 26 points, including a half-court shot at the buzzer to force overtime, and visiting Freeman (17-1, 12-0) edged Medical Lake (12-6, 8-4) 67-65 in overtime on Friday.

Dylan Oja added 20 points for Freeman, ranked No. 1 in state 1A, which sealed the Northeast A title with the win over the scrappy second-place Cardinals.

Medical Lake led by three with four seconds left in regulation. It missed the front of a 1-and-1 and after a scramble for the loose ball, Maine ended up with it at half court and hit the heave to tie it and force the extra session. In overtime, Maine sealed the win with five late free throws.

Xavier Butler led Medical Lake with 17 points, Trenten Garza had 16 points with 10 assists, Nizhole Sherman added 16 and Joey Jasmer had nine points and 13 rebounds.

Newport 57, Riverside 34: Robby Owen led the visiting Grizzlies (12-6, 9-3), seventh in state 1A, with 19 points in a victory over the Rams (2-17, 0-12).

Owen Leslie added 14 points for Newport, which limited Riverside to single digits in each of the first three quarters.

Thaddeus Trepanier led the Rams with nine points.

Deer Park 53, Lakeside 49: Austin Wisinger scored 13 points and the visiting Stags (8-10, 6-6) topped the Eagles (9-9, 7-5).

Riley Wilson scored 11 points for Deer Park, which went 15 of 22 from the line and came from behind with a 31-20 second half.

Jacob Gifford led Lakeside with 11 points.

Colville 62, Chewelah 52: Devin Lembcke scored 18 points and the visiting Indians (5-13, 3-9) defeated the Cougars (7-10, 3-9).

Chase Sandaine added 13 points for Colville, which used a 14-7 third-quarter run to take the lead.

Elan Krausz and Nils Berger led Chewelah with 10 points each.

Great Northern

East Valley 65, West Valley 51: Jeremiah Hillard scored 20 points and the Knights (9-9, 4-6) beat the visiting Eagles (9-8, 4-5).

Treyshaun Bracey scored 15 points, Eli Holocek added 11 and Gage Rogers chipped in 10 for East Valley.

Cletis Hydrick led West Valley with 22 points.

Northeast 2B

Northwest Christian 65, St. George’s 47: Asher Cox had 18 points as the Crusaders (15-1, 12-0) tamed the visiting Dragons (9-7, 8-4) in the schools’ annual “Battle for the Holy Grail” rivalry game.

Ryan Ricks added 17 points with 13 rebounds, Rolf Veenstra had 14 and Nolan Burns scored eight points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Crusaders, ranked fourth in state 2B.

Erik Farias led the Dragons with a game-high 23 points.

Liberty 62, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 31: Tyler Haas scored 18 points and visiting the visiting Lancers (12-5, 10-3) beat the Broncos (6-10, 4-8).

Chase Burnham added 11 points for Liberty, which allowed just seven points in the first half and ran away with a 17-9 fourth quarter.

Bryce Kelly led the Broncos with 9 points.

Colfax 51, Asotin 50: Danny Robinson scored 15 points and the visiting Bulldogs (11-5, 10-2) defeated the Panthers (5-9, 3-9).

Carson Cloaninger added 14 points, Jared Kneale scored 12 and

Eli Engledow led the Panthers with 20 points.

Davenport 44, Springdale 35: Tanner Abbott scored 14 points and the Gorillas (7-9, 6-6) defeated the visiting Chargers (10-6, 6-6).

Davenport moves to .500 on the year in league play.

After a rough first quarter, the Gorillas outscored the Chargers 19-4 in the second. Peyton Buchanan scored eight points with 15 rebounds for Davenport.

Chandler Carr scored 15 points and Austin Howder added 13 points for Springdale.

Kettle Falls 47, Wilbur-Creston 38: Matt Thompson scored 19 points and the Bulldogs (4-11, 1-10) beat the visiting Wildcats (5-10, 4-7).

Kettle Falls led 16-3 after one quarter and held off a rally by W-C that saw the Wildcats close to within four points in the third quarter.

Thompson, a freshman, went 14 of 19 from the line. Marcello Mendez had nine points and 12 rebounds for the Bulldogs.

Doug Rosman scored 13 points to lead the Wildcats.

Reardan 49, Tekoa-Rosalia 39: Cade Francis scored 13 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and the visiting Indians (3-13, 2-10) topped the Timberwolves (4-13, 2-11).

Tyler Sprecher added nine points and 10 rebounds for Reardan, which raced out to a 16-9 lead after the first quarter.

The Timberwolves were led by Mitchell Billings with 15 points and Eddie Frick with eight.

Northeast 1B

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 85, Northport 25: Charle Hunt scored 19 points and the Warriors (16-2, 12-0) clinched the NE1B league title with a victory over the visiting Mustangs (6-12, 3-10).

Payton Nielson scored 18 points with 12 steals and eight rebounds for a near triple-double for ACH, which is ranked sixth in state 1B.

The Warriors came out hot, outscoring the Mustangs 25-8 in the first quarter and limited Northport to five second-half points.

Aiden Middlesworth had 18 points for Northport.

Wellpinit 61, Inchelium 56: Cedric Bowen led all scorers with 20 points and the visiting Redskins (13-3, 8-3) defeated the Hornets (9-8, 8-5).

Brandon Flett added 17 for Wellpinit, which led 47-36 after three quarters.

Kobe Seymour and Jaden Erickson scored 14 points apiece for Inchelium.

Odessa-Harrington 90, Curlew 27: Ryan Moffet added to his tremendous freshman season with 24 points and the Titans (10-7, 8-4) overwhelmed the visiting Cougars (6-12, 5-9).

Odessa-Harrington stays in third place still one game back of Wellpinit for second place in the Northeast 1B South standings.

Cusick 73, Columbia 47: Dylan Hendershott scored 23 points and the Panthers (9-9, 9-5) defeated the visiting Lions (2-15, 1-11).

Trevor Browneagle, Bryce Nomee, and Tanner Shanholtzer all scored nine points apiece for Cusick, which took advantage of a 19-9 run in the third.

Riley McClain made five 3-pointers and finished with 24 points to lead the Lions.

Southeast 1B

Pomeroy 50, Garfield-Palouse 49: Ryan Wolf scored 12 points and the Pirates (15-1, 11-0), ranked eighth in state 1B, defeated the visiting Vikings (9-7, 6-5) in overtime.

Pomeroy, ranked eighth in state 1B, clinched the Southeast 1B title with the win.

Mason Bates scored 13 points and Blake Jones added 10 to lead the Vikings.

Oakesdale 57, Touchet 45: Kieron Anderson scored 24 points with 12 rebounds and the visiting Nighthawks (7-10, 4-7) knocked off the Indians (2-11, 1-10) 57-45 on Friday.

Oakesdale fell behind 12-8 after the first but used an 18-10 fourth quarter to pull away. Cal Gregory finished with 15 points for Oakesdale while Austin Rutledge added nine points, nine boards and four steals.

James Kates scored 16 points and Bryan Andrade added 13 for Touchet.

Intermountain

Priest River 54, Bonners Ferry 51: Anthony Storro scored 14 points with 12 rebounds and the Spartans (6-8, 3-1) got past the visiting Badgers (3-7, 0-2).

Hunter Hartwig scored 11 points and Kobe Haggerty added 10 for Priest River.

Kaleb Stockton scored eight points to lead the Badgers.

Nonleague

Post Falls 66, Moscow 40: Tanner McCliment-Call led the visiting Trojans (11-2) with 17 points, including four three-pointers, in a victory over the Bears (6-5).

David Bourgard scored 15 points for Post Falls, which had 11 3-point baskets, 18 assists and forced 13 steals. The Trojans were ranked third in state 5A in the latest Idaho media poll.

Glen Gosse led Moscow with 13 points and Cooper Stephens added 10 points.

Lake City 70, Lakeland 68: Kenny Louie-McGee scored 27 points and the visiting Timberwolves (11-4, 2-3) edged the Hawks (5-12, 1-3).

Louie-McGee had a personal 7-0 run and 11 points in the fourth quarter as Lake City eked out the win.

Kaden Davis led Lakeland with 22 points and five assists, Dylan Vahey had 19 points and Dylan Knight added 12. Lakeland drilled 12 3-pointers.

Clarkston 63, Lewiston 41: Jett Sobotta scored 21 points and the Bantams (16-2) handled the Bengals (9-6) at Lewis-Clark State College.

Travis Hansen added 12 points for Clarkston, which used a 20-13 third quarter to take control and a 17-7 fourth to pull away. The Bantams, ranked first in state 2A, have already clinched the Great Northern League title.

Trystan Bradley led Lewiston with 22 points.

Genesis Prep 52, Timberlake 29: Jonny Hillman scored 17 points, Junior Williams added 16 and the Jaguars (10-4) defeated the visiting Tigers (5-4).

Stephane Manzi scored 11 points for Genesis Prep, which limited Timberlake to single digits in each of the four quarters.

Jordan Hardy scored eight points to lead Timberlake.
