Demand health care specifics

The Republican Party and our Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers keep crowing that “Obamacare is a failure!” It isn’t even broken, much less failed. As many as 30 million people have health insurance today, thanks to Obamacare. When I was suddenly laid off from my job, I relied on Obamacare to see me through. It was the only logical answer.

So why does McMorris Rodgers keep saying it has failed? Simple. She and the Republican Party are doctrinally opposed to any federal (and most state) government social programs. The Tea Party Idaho Legislature and many other Republican-controlled legislatures have blocked the acceptance of federal funds for Medicaid expansion offered under Obamacare.

Their constituents are trained to blame the “evils” of Obamacare when they can’t get insurance coverage. The individual mandate of Obamacare helps keep cost inflation in check. It has been under legal attack by Republicans for years. They figure that if they wound Obamacare enough, then they might slow it down enough to catch up and deal the final blow — outright repeal.

What they won’t tell us is what how they’re going replace Obamacare without exploding the insurance market and spurring cost inflation. Ask Cathy McMorris Rodgers for specifics.
