Mariners Pregame: Second of three with Angels, lineups and starters

Game 82: The Seattle Mariners (40-41) face the Los Angeles Angels (42-42) in the second of a three-game series at 7:07 p.m. at Angel Stadium in Anaheim.

The Mariners crushed four home runs and pounded out 17 hits, while Ariel Miranda tossed seven innings of two-hit ball, in a 10-0 win over the Angels on Friday night.

The M’s are 5-2 in seven career starts (1-1 in 2017) against Angels starter Ricky Nolasco in his career, while averaging 5.42 runs per game in these starts.

Mariners Notes

  • C Mike Zunino hit .304 with 14 runs scored, three doubles, 10 home runs and 31 RBI in 24 games in June. Zunino’s 31 RBI during the month led MLB in June and were tied for second-most by an A.L. catcher, dating back to 1920.
  • Zunino is the fifth Mariners player in franchise history to hit at least 10 home run and drive in 30 or more RBI in a month. Zunino joins Ken Griffey Jr. (three times), Edgar Martinez (twice), Alex Rodriguez and Jay Buhner.
  • OF Ben Gamel hit .393 (42 for 107) with 22 runs scored, eight doubles, two home runs, 11 RBI and six walks in 26 games in June. He led MLB in June in hits, while ranking second in average.
  • DH Nelson Cruz is celebrating his 37th birthday today. Cruz has hit safely in each of the seven seasons he has played on his birthday batting .357 (10 for 28) with seven runs, two doubles, a triple, three home runs and nine RBI in six games.
