Spokane and Walla Walla airports get federal grants for infrastructure needs

Airports in Spokane and Walla Walla received federal grants for improvements to runways, taxiways and lighting, the Federal Aviation Administration announced Monday.

The Spokane International Airport received $1.5 million in grants and Walla Walla Regional Airport received $5.8 million.

The FAA awarded $290.6 million in airport infrastructure grants to 105 airports across the nation as part of the infrastructure improvement program.

Airports are entitled to a certain amount of infrastructure funding annually, based on passenger volumes. The FAA also provides discretionary grants for high-priority airport projects.
