Boyfriend shoots at couple in bed, then kills himself

By Cameron Probert Tri-City Herald

A Benton City, Washington, man is dead after breaking into an apartment and shooting at a couple in bed before turning the gun on himself.

Steven S. Eggers, 47, smashed the living room window of his girlfriend’s apartment on the 500 block of 14th Street at 9:50 p.m. Saturday, said Benton County Sheriff’s investigators.

Eggers and the woman had been in a relationship for about a year but it’s unclear if they were still dating, said officials.

When he found her in bed with another man, Eggers threatened them with a revolver, fired one shot into the wall above the headboard before shooting himself in the head, said investigators.
