He was drunk when he climbed into the prison work release center in Kennewick

It’s not often someone breaks into a prison facility.

But Nathaniel L. Whiteman, 38, had reportedly been drinking when he climbed over the fence into the state Department of Corrections work release site in Kennewick, said police Sgt. Randy Maynard.

Employees spotted him pushing a wheelbarrow around the yard about 4:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Police reported he was drunk when he they arrived.

Whiteman was arrested and taken to the Benton County jail on suspicion of trespassing.
