Coeur d’Alene woman killed after one-vehicle crash in Idaho Panhandle National Forest
A woman was killed Sunday in the Idaho Panhandle National Forest when a car she was in went over an embankment, striking a tree.
The Idaho State Police responded to the one-vehicle crash at about 7 p.m. Sunday, where they found Rebecca Zwiers, 23 of Coeur d’Alene, dead at the scene, police said in a news release.
Duane Zwiers, 27, was driving a 2004 GMC Envoy on Forest Service Road 209 east of Coeur d’Alene near the Bumblebee Campground, when he failed to negotiate a left curve at milepost 2, sending the vehicle over a 20-foot embankment where it crashed into a tree.
The Idaho State Police are continuing to investigate.
