Firm building 35,000-square-foot hangar at Medford airport

Associated Press

MEDFORD, Ore. – Private Boeing 737s parked on the Medford airport tarmac will soon have a garage.

The Mail Tribune reported Million Air Medford plans to build one of the largest airplane hangars in the state, a $5 million, 35,000-square-foot hangar just west of the control tower.

The project will give Million Air 75,000 square feet spread over four buildings. At present, the largest building is 25,000 square feet with a 28-foot-high door. The new hangar will have a 45-foot-high door and be able to handle two 737s, side by side.

Groundbreaking is scheduled later this month, with completion expected before winter.

Million Air Medford caters to business and leisure clients. Its president, Joe Keith, says the hangar will be lower than the control tower, but “will throw a pretty big shadow.”
