NIC golf coach Russell Grove wins Oregon Open

North Idaho College golf coach Russell Grove shot a 1-under 71 Thursday to wrap up a six-shot victory at the Oregon Open Invitational.
Grove completed 54 holes at Juniper Golf Course in Redmond, Oregon, in 13-under 203 to claim the $7,500 first-place check. It was Grove’s first major victory on the Pacific Northwest PGA circuit.
Grove, a Coeur d’Alene High and University of Idaho product, took command with rounds of 67 Tuesday and 65 Wednesday.
Billy Bomar, pro at Prairie Falls in Post Falls, finished third at 213. Manito assistant pro Corey Prugh tied for 10th at 218.
Hayden Lake’s Reid Hatley won the amateur division with a 3-under 213.
