Idaho man dead in crash near Athol

A man from Cocolalla died Friday afternoon in a crash on U.S. Highway 95 near Athol, according to the Idaho State Police.

James W. Brown, 86, was driving his Ford Taurus northbound near milepost 449 when he went off the road and onto the left shoulder for an unknown reason just after 4:40 p.m., the ISP said. He hit the end of a guardrail and died at the scene.

Brown’s passenger, 84-year-old Patricia E. Brown of Cocolalla, was not injured. Both were wearing seat belts.
