Woman dead in Kootenai Health parking lot

Coeur d’Alene Police are investigating the death of a woman in the parking lot of Kootenai Health.

Police were called to the hospital at 2:45 p.m., said Det. Jared Reneau. A hospital employee found the woman in a car in the north parking lot on the hospital campus and attempted CPR, Reneau said.

“It was quickly evident the female was deceased,” Reneau said.

The woman has a gunshot wound to the head that does not appear to be self-inflicted, he said. An investigation into the woman’s death is ongoing and investigators are reviewing video surveillance footage.

Her identity has not been released but Reneau said she is in her late 30s.
