Parody pregnant giraffe mom beats real pregnant giraffe in giving birth

From staff reports

A South Carolina mom who won many followers as she parodied a zoo’s live-cam of a pregnant giraffe gave birth this week to a healthy boy.

And she kept the parody going even after her baby was born.

On Facebook Live while in labor earlier this week, Erin Dietrich walked around in a giraffe mask showing her belly in a video designed to resemble Animal Adventure Park’s webcam of April, a 15-year-old pregnant giraffe.

The zoo in Harpursville, New York started filming on Feb. 24 and had garnered more than 100,000 views of its live video as of March 1, The Christian Science Monitor reported. It had more than 34 million views as of Thursday morning, though the camera wasn’t operating.

Animal Adventure Park offered congratulations to Dietrich: “April doesn’t appreciate the extra pressure,” WNBC reported.

Although she shared a picture of her nursing her new baby while wearing her giraffe mask, Dietrich wasn’t all jokes after the birth.

“He’s here!! He is perfect, healthy and just beautiful! Our sweet Porter Lane arrived at 6:11pm tonight. 8lb 2oz and 21 1/2 inches. ❤ Our hearts are overflowing. Thank you so much for ALL the love and prayers! XOXO,” she said on her Facebook page.
