Gonzaga’s Sweet 16 matchup with West Virginia is the fourth all-time, and the Bulldogs have been victorious in the previous three.

The first meeting between the two programs occured during the first round of the 2012 NCAA Tournament. The seventh-seeded Zags cruised over the tenth-seeded Mountaineers, 77-54, behind a 56-percent field-goal percentage.

In their second games as Bulldogs, Rem Bakamus and Przemek Karnowski faced off against the Mountaineers on November 12, 2012, in Spokane. Karnowski scored six points and had four rebounds to help Gonzaga defeat WVU, 84-50.

Karnowski also scored 19 points to help lead the Zags to an 80-76 victory when Gonzaga visited West Virginia the following season. At halftime, the Bulldogs were down by ten.
