Oregon man sentenced to life in prison for murder of wife

Associated Press

ROSEBURG, Ore. – A Roseburg man convicted of murdering his wife has been sentenced to life in prison.

The News-Review reported David Ryan Kelley apologized Thursday for “this awful tragedy.” A week earlier, a Douglas County jury found him guilty in the killing of 42-year-old Ginette Duvall.

Kelley called 9-1-1 early on the morning of July 13, 2015, to report that he had fatally shot Duvall.

Kelley refused to come outside when Roseburg police arrived. Officers negotiated with him by phone for several hours before he eventually surrendered. Duvall had been shot multiple times.

Though sentenced to life in prison, Kelley has the possibility of parole after 25 years.
