Bonner County Deputy injured in 2016 shooting to return to duty

Bonner County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Gagnon, who was shot while serving an arrest warrant in 2016, has received a full medical release and will return to duty on Sunday, according to a release from the Sheriff’s office.

Gagnon and fellow deputy Justin Penn were shot while attempting to arrest Adam D. Foster at a home in Blanchard, Idaho, on January 16. Foster has been charged with two counts of attempted murder.

Both deputies were hospitalized following the incident, with Gagnon listed as being in serious condition. Gagnon was hospitalized for a week before his release.

Deputy Penn remains on medical leave, and is scheduled for more surgeries and physical therapy, according to the release.
