It’s ‘Ask A Lawyer’ day, with free legal advice, in honor of Law Day

In honor of “Law Day” today, which celebrates the United States’ legal system, the Fourth District Bar Association is holding an “Ask-a-Lawyer” day in which people can call in to receive free legal advice. The event runs from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. MT today. Callers between those hours can call any of three numbers, all with 208 area codes: 209-5124; 209-5107; and 209-5194. They’ll be asked to leave their first name, contact information, and a brief summary of their legal question with a clerk, and a licensed attorney will return their call, providing up to 15 minutes of free legal advice.

“Idaho Law Day is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the liberty, justice and equality promised in American jurisprudence,” said Catherine Freeman, chair of the Fourth District Bar’s Law Day Committee.

Also in honor of Law Day, the association presented awards in its “6.1 Challenge,” named for Idaho Rule of Professional Conduct 6.1, which encourages and recognizes pro bono and public service work. Attorney Maria Andrade received the top award, the 2017 Liberty Bell Award.
