Idaho football posts lowest Academic Progress Rate in FBS
The NCAA released its annual Academic Progress Rates (APR) on Wednesday, and the Idaho Vandals football team was at the bottom of the Football Bowl Subdivision.
The Vandals received a multi-year average score of 927, which is below the threshold of 930 at which sanctions are issued. However, the NCAA has shown leniency to UI because the Vandals have shown considerable progress since Paul Petrino’s arrival prior to the 2013 season.
While the Vandals were given a postseason ban for the 2014 season, it was lifted the following year.
The APR measures a school’s ability to retain athletes and to keep them academically eligible. Schools are awarded points for each semester in which athletes are eligible, as well as points for staying in school or graduating. A perfect score is 1,000.
